Quality Lab Technician (3rd Shift)

THE POSITION: 

Under the direction of the Quality Manager and/or Lead Technician, the Quality Lab Technician monitors and inspects areas for adherence and enforcement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The Quality Lab Technician is responsible for adhering to the SOPs, inspection instructions and work instructions that are in effect, by assuring the quality and quantity of product produced. The Quality Lab Technician will keep inspection/work area clean based on 5S methodology and complies with company policies and procedures.

3rd shift is Sunday - Thursday 11pm to 6am (work 7 and paid for 8!)

*Training will be Monday - Friday 6am-2:30pm for undetermined amount of time*

  • Perform inbound and internal inspection and test of materials including visual or with various hardware, fixtures, and gauges, based on Inspection Instruction/Plan, criteria established in specific failure catalogue (including appearance, surface defects, debris, shards and similar).
  • Monitor production line data to focus and prioritize part analysis and investigations to protect the customer and lower scrap rates.
  • Evaluate and enter QC holds. This position has the authority to halt production processes if the product quality is at risk.
  • Checking parts / process at beginning of shift, in-process, and end of shift to assure adherence/conformity based on the Quality Plan (Inspection Instructions, Work Instructions, SOPs, etc.). Conducts in-process sampling and physical testing of product with required paperwork. Prepare and provide inspection reports for measurements performed as needed.
  • Work with Production operators on shopfloor at the Presses, Calenders, Slitters and Finish Lines to problem solve, inspect, and possibly repair product. 
  • Review and file test data, prepare test reports, and release materials.
  • Maintain testing and analysis equipment.
  • Communicate test results and advise management of potential quality problems.
  • Participate in process improvement as applicable.
  • Perform production adhesions, incoming materials, and R&D/ projects testing.
  • Perform all other tasks requested by management

Tu perfil

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have the ability to follow lab test procedures and protocol.
  • Must be computer literate and able to use SAP, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Must be able to read and follow ISO and ASTM test methods.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as Quality Lab Technician in Production/ Manufacturing
  • Familiar with Bills of Materials
  • Familiar with process improvement techniques (Leans, Six Sigma, etc.)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
