Senior Technology & Platform Developer for 2 Wheel / Focus Bicycle Tires (m/f/diverse) - REF98189P

As a Technology & Platform Development Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping the future of Continental's bicycle tire portfolio. Working at the interface of technology development, product development, manufacturing, testing, and process development, you will develop and implement technologies that enable the next generation of bicycle tire performance.

Your main tasks and responsibilities are:

• Developing, validating, and implementing new bicycle tire technologies, construction concepts, and platform solutions with a strong focus on achieving next-generation performance levels
• Driving innovation activities from initial idea generation through validation and industrialization in close cooperation with material development, manufacturing, process development, and product development
• Building deep technical expertise in tire construction, performance mechanisms, materials, and manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for future developments
• Identifying technology gaps, understanding root causes, and developing robust technical solutions to achieve ambitious performance targets for athletes and cyclists across diverse applications
• Exploring and evaluating new manufacturing concepts and processes that can unlock future product and technology capabilities
• Planning, executing, and evaluating prototypes, risk assessments, testing programs, simulations, and technical investigations
• Leading technical projects and task forces while actively contributing to the engineering work required for successful execution
• Analyze industry trends, benchmark competitors, conduct patent screenings and derive future technology opportunities
• Collaborate with internal and external partners, suppliers, universities, and industry organizations to support technical development and innovation

• University degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Natural Sciences, or a comparable field 
• Several years of experience in R&D, technology development, product development, manufacturing, testing & simulation, or process development
• Experience driving technically challenging projects and delivering results in cross-functional environments
• Strong technical curiosity and the desire to understand products, technologies, and processes beyond the surface level
• Passion for Bicycle preferred
• Ideally cross-move experience
• Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills
• Ability to work effectively across organizational interfaces and build strong stakeholder networks
• Fluent English language skills
