Principal Tire & Vehicle NVH (m/f/d) - REF97705I

The role is integrated in the Continental Tire R&D (Hanover, Germany). The Principal engineer employs his industry experience in the field of tire and vehicle chassis NVH development and his analytical thinking to establish themselves as the key NVH contact within the company, offering technical consultation in the field of vehicle comfort, vehicle interior noise, and tire/vehicle exterior noise (R117, R51). They assume responsibility for integration of prediction methods within product development activities and design and implement product release processes to guarantee performance target fulfillment and regulatory compliance for sound emissions. They maintain and expand their existing network within the tire/automotive industry NVH community and represent Continental in expert-level business-relevant B2B interactions.

Key tasks:

• Identifies strategic technical directions and product trends in the field of vehicle comfort, vehicle interior noise, and tire/vehicle exterior noise and translates them to concrete technical initiatives for Continental
• Initiates and coordinates the development of performance and numerical prediction technologies in the field of NVH through structured project activities
• Designs and implements product development and product release processes that guarantee customer and regulatory NVH target fulfillment
• Offers internal NVH consultation and training for product development colleagues in the field of NVH, promoting a pragmatic approach to problem solving

• Academic degree in the field of Engineering or physical/Natural Sciences or similar
• Multi-year experience in the field of NVH within the tire or automotive industry
• Experience with leading complex R&D projects and establishing technical processes
• Deep knowledge and understanding of tire and vehicle chassis mechanisms related to comfort, interior noise, and exterior pass-by noise
• Practical experience with CAE/FEM method development & application, ideally in the field of tires or vehicle chassis NVH/structural dynamics
• Experience with industry-standard tire modeling approaches for comfort and structure-borne noise, including MF-SWIFT, FTire, and CDTire (modeling and simplification principles, parameter identification process, limitations, application scenarios, and vehicle model integration in a commercial CAE environment)
• Experience with problem solving, ideally in product development, by application of non-standard CAE methods & concepts
• Proven performance under pressure and tight schedules within an industrial environment
• English language fluency (written and spoken)
