EMEA Customs Manager - Customs Procedures (m/f/d) - REF97766E
Your tasks
As a (Senior) Expert (m/f/d) Customs Affairs, you will coordinate and support the legally compliant execution of operational customs activities (imports, exports, and special customs procedures) across the EMEA region. You will ensure customs compliance and contribute to risk management, compliance, and value-creation initiatives.
Your Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership:
- Provide functional support to EMEA Customs Coordinators in the local country organizations
- Facilitate best-practice sharing and conduct workshops
- Train and coordinate the EMEA customs community
Compliance & Risk Management:
- Monitor changes in customs and international trade regulations and implement appropriate measures
- Support Customs CMS/ICS reporting cycles
- Plan and conduct Customs Health Checks
Strategy & Value Creation:
- Proactively identify improvement opportunities and develop business cases
- Participate in and lead projects
Operational Excellence:
- Implement new authorizations, processes, and IT solutions
- Functionally manage customs operations (import, export, transit, and special customs procedures)
Audit Support:
- Support external customs audits and act as the audit coordinator for customs-related reviews and inspections
Your profile
- Academic degree in Business Administration, International Trade, or a completed vocational qualification with relevant further training in customs and international trade, or comparable qualification
- Multiple years of professional experience in customs management with a focus on the EMEA region
- In-depth knowledge of customs procedures, trade compliance, and international logistics
- Experience in data analysis and reporting, with the ability to present complex information in a clear and concise manner
- Proficiency in customs management software, including SAP GTS, SAP ERP, and Microsoft Office
- Business Fluent written and spoken German and English language skills; additional European language skills are an advantage
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and effectively apply complex customs regulations
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Solid understanding of supply chain and logistics processes, as well as tax and excise duty fundamentals
- Experience working on cross-functional projects, ideally in a project management or sub-project leadership role
- Experience in functional leadership and guiding team members
- Demonstrated communication skills and strong intercultural competence
- Willingness to travel domestically and occasionally internationally
