Hey, are you looking for an exciting thesis and want to gain valuable insights into the field of trajectory planning for autonomous vehicles? Then we have just the thing for you!
We are looking for you from February for a period of 6 months to support our AI lab in Berlin. We will need you mostly on site in Berlin. But we also understand that there are days when you would prefer to work from home. Therefore, together we will find a solution that works for all of us - remote working hours are therefore possible in consultation with your supervisor.
The aim of this project is to develop and evaluate a planning algorithm that ensures safe and comfortable driving behavior in such situations. Model-based methods, such as model predictive control, and learning-based methods, such as transformer-based architectures, are to be combined. By integrating these approaches, the planner should not only reduce the risk of collision in connection with visual obstructions, but also proactively collect new information about the scene.
The following tasks are to be completed in this Master's thesis:
- You will conduct literature research and compare occlusion-aware trajectory planners
- We will familiarize you with our existing framework and expand the method to take occlusions into account
- You evaluate the framework in our simulation environment
- We would be pleased if you would publish an article based on this
Your profile
Wondering if you are suitable for the final thesis in the field of trajectory planning for autonomous vehicles? Here are the important qualifications we are looking for:
- You are studying in the field of computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or comparable degree programs, so that you bring basic aspects of our field of work with you
- Programming experience in Python is essential for this position
- You should have initial knowledge of control engineering and model predictive control as well as good knowledge of deep learning
- Very good written and spoken English skills are essential for us
In addition to these technical requirements, we are also looking for certain qualities and skills:
- You are independent, goal-oriented and structured and know how to work effectively without losing track of things - always ensuring high-quality results
- Analytical thinking is also an advantage and can help you to solve tasks effectively
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team are particularly important to us - after all, we always have to work together to find solutions
