Senior Engineer with AI/ML Engineering or Data Engineering (Iasi)


In the central Research & Advanced Engineering organization, we are looking for a Senior Engineer with a robust background either in AI/machine learning or data engineering to join our innovation global team. This role involves technically leading the development and implementation of AI&Data-driven software solutions that are crucial for our business strategies and technical transformations into an AI empowered company.

As a Senior Engineer focusing on AI/ML or Data Engineering, you will:

  • Lead the development, and deployment of machine learning models or data-driven solutions;
  • Create Workpackages/tasks that need to be completed by other colleagues or teams and effectively coordinate their implementation;
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to understand business needs and develop technical solutions;
  • Implement state-of-the-art ML algorithms, adapting and improving them according to project requirements;
  • Perform extensive data analysis and model validation to ensure the efficacy and accuracy of solutions;
  • Maintain and enhance existing AI frameworks and libraries to keep them at the cutting edge;
  • Engage in continuous learning to keep abreast of industry trends and technology advancements;
  • Mentor junior developers, contribute to team knowledge sharing, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals;
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality, robust, and scalable AI-driven applications.

A mentor will support you to stepwise take over responsibility after an initial training phase that will familiarize you with our products, tools, processes, and organization.

You would be a perfect match for our team if you have: 

  • Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in Computer Science, Informatics, Mathematics, or a related engineering field;
  • At least 8 years of professional experience in Software, AI or Data related fields
  • At least 4 years experience in AI/ML Engineering or Data Engineering;
  • Excellent knowledge of Python;
  • Good knowledge of computer science and general software engineering principles;
  • Great understanding of data-driven research and development;
  • Ability to work hands-on independent from external guidance;
  • Ability to formulate Statement-of-Work / Workpackages to be done by other teams and be able to coordinate this;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and understanding of software engineering principles;
  • Strong communication skills and proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and be creative, with a strong sense of independence and teamwork.
  • Experience in an agile development environment;
  • Experience in writing technical and user documentation;
  • Experience with version control systems like git and project management tools like JIRA;
  • Knowledge of DevOps tools and methodologies, e.g., Docker, Kubernetes.

Additionally, for AI/ML Engineering

  • Solid background and self-driven interest in machine learning, and deep learning, familiarity with recent advances of state-of-the-art;
  • Knowledge in optimizing and fine-tuning deep neural networks;
  • Demonstrated experience in applying Machine Learning methods for real-world value creation;
  • Familiarity with GPU-accelerated libraries (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras 3)

Or additionally for Data Engineering

  • Project-based practical experience of working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) technologies;
  • Practical experience based on previous projects with continuous integration, continuous deployment, and test automation in architectures, e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions;
  • Project-based hands-on experience with container and DevOps technologies;
  • Experience with data analytics tools such as Power BI or Tableau;
  • Good Experience with SQL, NoSQL;
  • Knowledge of Hadoop, Spark, Spark Streaming, Presto, Hive, Crontab, Airflow.
