Paralegal - Product Liability and Commercial Litigation

  • Process legal service for Product Liability (PL) claims and manage all discovery requests from external National Discovery Counsel with internal colleagues, including Research & Development, Quality, Customer Service, Business Units and manufacturing plant locations (domestic and international).
  • Process legal service for other commercial litigation matters, coordinate discovery requests and perform other tasks as requested by the responsible in-house attorneys. 
  • Coordinate and prepare PL responses working with the responsible in-house attorney, engineers and external counsel engaged to manage the matter.
  • Coordinate and schedule witness depositions as necessary.
  • Coordinate all asbestos litigation docket with external counsel, including case intake on all claims.
  • Assist in-house attorney in the handling of Technical Assistance Requests (TAR) including coordination of information downloads working with internal engineering and product experts.
  • Provide general paralegal expertise and administrative support to the entire Commercial Law Department, including the creation of new vendor for payment related to litigation settlements.
  • Manage customer service claims related to PL property damage or personal injury by contacting and negotiating with claimants to resolve claims prior to the initiation of any lawsuit.

  • Paralegal Certificate and/or Associate's/Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 5+ years’ experience as a paralegal or similar legal experience in a law firm, corporation or both.
  • Expert level proficiency in MS Office 365 Suite, Nitro PDF Creator, Adobe Acrobat.
  • Must work in-office at least three (3) days per week, with ability to work independently both in office and remotely at home.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Continental is able to offer visa support for internals individuals who currently hold an existing valid employment visa.
  • Continental is not able to pay relocation expenses for this opportunity


  • 7+ years’ experience as a paralegal or similar legal experience in a law firm, corporation or both
  • Background in the automotive and/or tire industry 
  • South Carolina Notary Public 
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and research skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work under pressure, prioritizing and reprioritizing effectively. proactive follow-up skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, tracking and meeting multiple, changing deadlines.
  • Ability to work directly with and gain the confidence of senior management, as well as explain complex, challenging issues in a clear manner to all levels of the organization.
  • Self-motivated, with proactive follow-up and follow through skills.
  • Good business judgment and excellent communication and time management skills.
  • Clear understanding and adherence to ethical principles, company values, codes of conduct and corporate policies.
