Purchaser/ Senior Purchaser (Category Purchasing Management – Semiconductor Solutions)

Continental is newly entering into ‘Fabless Semiconductor Solutions’, in particular for OSATs (packaging suppliers for Semiconductors). The target is to build up new Supply Base and Contracts, as we cut the value chain of IDMs with a consequence of new responsibility and interface definition for suppliers. The best-fit supplier strategy will be applied to achieve best market conditions for our company.

Responsibilities

• Reporting to Global Category Sensor & ASICs.
• Actively supports Senior Category Management in defining a fitting supplier strategy.  

• Support in driving and setting up of supplier panel for OSATs and drives negotiation with suppliers to achieve best market conditions in the respective area of responsibility.
• Conducts market analysis.
• Implements and maintain a network within the Category and the other Categories within the Cluster organization to share competence and best practices, Coaching, developing, and supporting the team and employees.
• Develops a respective technology and supplier capacity strategy over global suppliers’ panel:
  • Drives the strategy definition process with cross-functional partners.
  • Ensures that Continentals requirements are reflected in the strategy.
  • Document and implement the strategy in all Business Areas worldwide.
• Actively influence the sourcing process through:
  • Supplier selection
  • Negotiation of prices, nonconformance costs etc. and closure of contracts.
  • Applying Advanced Negotiation Concepts.
• Drives annual negotiations to constantly improve the cost situation of Continental Automotive.
• Drives improvement programs with suppliers
• Ensures in time implementation of correct data in the respective IT-systems, Controlling of Target Achievements
• Supports re-design in cost reduction programs.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.

• A minimum of 3 - 5 years of working experience in semiconductor industry with prior knowledge in costing and pricing model of the industry.

• Technical understanding of electronic components.

• Procurement Process and Product Life Cycle (PLC) knowledge, preferable in semiconductor industry.

• Purchasing Management (including standards of Quality system requirements, policies, and norms (IATF 19649/ VDA 6.1).

• Experienced in Risk Management.

• Commercial knowledge, includes contract law etc.

• Project management skills, tools, and techniques.

• Strong business acumen and communication skills, including entrepreneur mindset, problem solving, and negotiation abilities.
