Our Auburn Hills, MI location is seeking a highly self-motivated and detail-oriented Sr Staff Electrical Engineer to join our team! Design and development of electronic hardware to customer requirements for various in-vehicle automotive lighting controller and actuator products (Lighting Control Units, Lighting Algorithm Control Modules, DC_DC Converters, Seat Controls, etc). Applies technical and design engineering methods to analog and digital circuits for the design of new products or modification of existing products.

Project Tasks
• Plan and lead product validation activities (i.e. environmental, electrical/EMC, bench level)
• Analyze complex data (parametric, thermal, etc) and develop action plans
• Professionally interface with suppliers and customers, understand technologies and roadmaps
• Actively participate on global projects and interface with global engineering community
• Support factory product introductions, launch and ramp up, MOL (Maintenance of Line)
• Evaluates and communicates complex technical issues (i.e. generates lessons learned, best practice, etc)
• Lead and execute project tasks and related deliverables on time while recognizing project budget impact
• Effectively communicate with all project team members and other functional areas, including management and manufacturing
• Collaborate on PCB design for functional area
• Lead coordination of tasks among project team members
• Drives resolution of significant technical problems and questions
• Leads quote, development and / or failure analysis functions
• Shares knowledge and expertise internally through technical reports and papers; presents internally outside of own team
• Delivers or assists in delivery of customer presentations/demos for products
• Mentor entry level engineers (technical, professional, communication, etc)

Documentation
• Generate documents for manufacturing (Bill of Material (BOM), test plans and specifications, Engineering Change Notices (ECN), etc.)
• Approves releases of related documentation to the Continental documentation system
• Review of DFMEA documentation
• Create interface documents (Hardware/Software interface specifications)
• Produces engineering documentation to include illustration of documents and communicates engineering procedures through prepared charts, graphs and diagrams
• Create technical addendums for quote activities

Design
• Design and development of discrete circuits and sub systems
• Create electronic schematics with consideration of BOM cost targets
• Conduct, review and/or approve worst case circuit analysis
• Lead resolution of complex problems within functional area (i.e. debugging a circuit)
• Assist in resolution of complex problems across functional areas (i.e. reset problem, external memory interface, etc)
• Lead design reviews and drive open items to closure within timely manner
• Perform or support cross functional engineering activities (i.e. thermal analysis, sleep current, placement studies etc.)

Innovation
• Participate and/or lead design to cost (DTC) activities
• Generates concepts for improved designs and processes
• Contributes to major technical solutions for products or manufacturing (technology & business) processes
• Follows emerging technologies and trends in functional area
• Submission of invention disclosures

Requisitos

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering
  • 5+ years’ Experience in Automotive Electronics Design
  • Knowledge and understanding of engineering techniques, scientific theory and principles
  • Proficient Engineering Principles (i.e. problem solving techniques, design techniques, worst case analysis, etc.)
  • Ability to identify and apply appropriate techniques
  • Experience with Micro controller/digital based circuit design
  • Experience with analog circuit design
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational abilities
  • Highly motivated and self driven, ability to work with minimal supervision

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with power supply circuit design
  • Proficient in basic EE test equipment (i.e. oscilloscope, digital multi meter (DMM), signal generator, etc.)
  • Proficient with circuit simulation tools (i.e. PSPICE, SABER, etc)
  • Proficiency in electronic schematic capture (i.e ZUKEN, MENTOR, etc.)
