HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

We are seeking a highly experienced FA engineer with demonstrated proficiency in analytical thinking and practical skills in performing physical analyses. The role involves identifying root cause defects in electronic and electro-mechanical products and circuits, including the electronic components used. Besides performing analyses, the tasks include collaborating with design engineering, supplier quality management, manufacturing quality engineers, and suppliers to enhance the quality of Continental products. The FA engineer will create detailed analysis reports, provide technical support for findings, and share expertise within the global network of analysis labs.

 

We are currently hiring two FA engineer positions for our QL Harmon Road analysis lab. One of these positions will include supervisory responsibilities for a small analysis team of 5-8 engineers, contingent upon the candidate’s people management qualifications.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE 

Skill Set:

  • Outstanding problem-solving skills, attention to detail, experience in driving analysis to root cause.
  • Excellent written report and presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate highly technical issues/results in simple terms.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in local and international teams and share knowledge.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work under pressure.

 

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in performing physical analysis of electronic modules, circuits and components or qualifications thereof.
  • Advanced knowledge of electronics, electronic and electromechanical components, and their materials.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the impact of real-world effects on electronic modules and components (e.g. bias voltage, current flow, humidity, thermal effects, etc.).
  • Experience in using functional analysis techniques for electronics such as e.g. curve tracing, probing, HiPot testing.
  • Proficient in at least 3 of the following analysis techniques: optical imaging, cross-sectioning of components and/or modules, 2D/3D X-ray imaging, Scanning Electron Microscopy/EDX.

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent required

ADDITIONAL WAYS TO STAND OUT 

  • Masters degree in electrical engineering or equivalent required – or alternately work experience which covers the theoretical background of a master’s degree as required for electronics failure analysis
  • Experience in the analysis of thermal incidents.
  • Familiar with automotive product electronic design, quality, validation and manufacturing process.
  • Aware of current industry standards and regulations related to electronic circuits, modules and components.
  • Skilled in using the following analysis techniques: Focused Ion Beam (FIB), Scanning Acoustic Microscopy (SAM), Auger Microprobe, X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS).
  • Experience in leading a small team (direct or indirect)
