General Ledger Accountant


The General Ledger Accountant is responsible for topics, including payroll and social benefits accounting, and related analyses for the Continental Automotive Systems, Inc. legal entity and its related consolidation units. In this role, the Accountant also performs month-end close procedures, and account reconciliations, and assists with financial reporting of the consolidation units.


  • Build a strong partnership with internal customers in business units, plants, and central function departments
  •  Actively participates in monthly, quarterly, and annual month-end close processes
  •  Prepare monthly journal entries for payroll, social benefits, IFRS 16, and other general accounting topics
  • Prepare assigned monthly account reconciliations and analyze account activity for any necessary adjustments
  • Responsible for payroll and social benefit accounting and analyses (including actuals, forecasting, and budgeting)
  • Perform monthly analysis of fringes and social benefit topics to meet with upper management to review results
  • Responsible for financial reporting for multiple consolidation units and legal entities
  • Assis with the implementation of process improvement initiatives and enhanced internal control procedures
  •  Assist with accounting for unusual, complex, and/or higher-risk transactions
  • SPIRIT implementation testing and support

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Support Governance, Risk and Compliance testing      
  • Support quarterly reviews, control testing, and annual financial statement audit by external auditors
  • Support internal audit reviews
  • Prepare related monthly, quarterly, and year-end footnotes
  • Complete US government census/surveys, as requested
  • Perform additional projects as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

  • Strong accounting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong team player and ability to gain cooperation from others to achieve goals and objectives
  •  Ability to research and apply technical accounting guidance
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excel/computer skills
  • Proactive self-starter with a positive attitude
  • Ability to interface with all levels of management and employees

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Financial discipline
  • 2 or more years of accounting experience
  • Experience with SAP 
  • Experience as a CPA
  • Advanced Excel/computer skills
