Head of Purchasing Controlling - Business Area Safety and Motion (m/f/diverse)


In your role as Head of Purchasing Controlling (m/f/diverse) in our Business Area Safety and Motion, you will not only lead the department but also act as business partner for purchasing, the segments and plants in terms of all material related topics.

You will support the respective stakeholders in decision-making by providing standard reporting and ensuring process excellence, driving standardization and deployment of processes, methods and tool. Furthermore, you will drive automatization and digitalization within BA SAM across all segments, plants and locations and establish/promote best practices and knowledge sharing.

Month end Closing / Current activities:

  • Regular preparation and coordination of the consolidated Purchasing month end closing reports for BA management / controlling 
  • Ensure tracking, monitoring, and reporting of purchasing relevant KPIs for the BA across the Segments (PPV, APR, PPV,...)
  • Support the realization of budget material targets and support initiation of countermeasures if target / budget deviations appear
  • One time credit / debit note preparation and initiation to/ from suppliers
  • Coordinate and support the accrual process: provide base for accrual decision-making to segments including tracking


  • Regular coordination and calculation of the purchasing price variance forecast across all SAM segments
  • Consolidation and understanding of the segment/ plant bottom-up FC, discuss major changes with segments and analyse/explain impacts for BA
  • Discuss and align consolidated Purchasing FC with BA Controlling, compare with segment FC and A PUR controlling FC
  • Prepare analysis and action package with Segment management /PUR Management
  • PPV FX simulation verification with Segments
  • Support the realization of budget material targets; support initiation of counter- measures if target deviations / budget deviations appear 

Budget Process 

  • Initiation, coordination and execution of the material planning process within SAM together with A purchasing controlling, segments and plant contacts
  • Coordination of material budget process within SAM across the Segments
  • Support segment controllers with upfront APR definition
  • Check baseline price plausibility and plan prices with Purchasing 
  • Ensure Data Quality of BOMs 
  • Support the StratPlan definition across the segments after bottom up budget values have been calculated 
  • Prepare SAM budget material summaries for the management budget reviews


  • Academic degree in Business Administration/ Economical Engineering or comparable qualifications
  • Several years of professional experience within Finance & Controlling, Purchasing or comparable
  • Leadership experience of advantage, especially with teams working in different locations
  • Very good skills with respect to handling and analysing big data as well as setting up reporting structures
  • Deep understanding of Continental policies, guidelines, standards and structures of advantage
  • Confident handling of SAP-BW, SAP-CO/FI and MS Office (especially Excel and Powerpoint)
  • Business fluent German and English language skills (written and spoken)
  • Intercultural competences, proactive attitude and openness for digitalization methods
  • Good communication and collaboration skills to various levels within the organization
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as strong ability for decision- making
