Project Engineer – Building & Utility Projects (Facilities Mexico)

Your tasks

The Project Engineer (Building & Utilities) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing construction and utility infrastructure projects within industrial facilities in Mexico and the America region. This role manages scope, schedule, cost, design coordination, contractor oversight, and technical quality for projects involving buildings, facility expansions, and critical utility systems.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end project execution for building construction, facility upgrades, and utility system projects.

• Manage scope, budget, schedule, risk, and resources for capital projects.

• Prepare and manage project documentation including charters, schedules, estimates, and risk registers.

• Coordinate design development from conceptual to detailed engineering.

• Review engineering deliverables such as P&IDs, architectural plans, utility calculations, and specifications.

• Ensure integration between building systems and site utilities.

• Support equipment selection, FAT/SAT coordination, and commissioning.

• Oversee construction contractors ensuring safety, quality, and schedule adherence.

• Conduct site inspections and resolve construction issues.

• Ensure compliance with NOM standards and international regulations.

• Develop project budgets and track expenditures.

• Identify project risks and mitigation strategies.

• Ensure proper handover including documentation and training.

Your profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related field.

• At least 3years of experience in industrial project engineering.

• Strong knowledge of construction methods and utility systems.

• Experience with drawings, specifications, and contractor management.

• Proficiency with project management tools.

• Knowledge of CAPEX processes and procurement cycles.

• Intermediate to advanced English proficiency.
