Mechanical Classification Engineer

Your tasks

As a Mechanical Classification Engineer you will be responsible for:

  • Attending to and advising on R&D projects to ensure marketability from an export control point of view;
  • Analyzing and commenting on new non-proliferation regime and regulatory proposals and developments;
  • Analyzing and strategic alignment with internal and external stakeholders (especially R&D, associations);
  • Analyzing geopolitical developments and assessing potential consequences for the group;
  • Communicating with senior management concerning regulatory restrictions;
  • Leading and supervising projects;
  • Defining requirements;
  • Crisis management from the technical angle;
  • Building a network of technical contacts throughout the organization;
  • Supporting M&A transactions,

Within this field of responsibilities your main tasks will be:

  • Classifying of goods, software, technology and services;
  • Technical counseling and advising of regional Centers of Competence, business partners and technical functions (e.g., R&D, manufacturing, industrial engineering);
  • Export Compliance classification from materials as well as customs classification from materials;
  • Grow up the process for the classification as a pioneer;
  • Analyzing materials in different departments;
  • Support for the IT-department for materials;
  • Trainings.

Your profile

  • University degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or comparable field;
  • Multiple years of professional experience in a comparable field of activity;
  • Desirable experience with Export Control and/or customs related classification of goods, software and technology;
  • Project Management experience,  as a project lead or technical project lead, in an international environment (preferably);
  • Experience / knowledge in Risk Management (is a plus);
  • Proficiency in English (written / verbal). German language skills is a plus;
  • Solid communication and stakeholder management skills;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities;
  • Drive, ownership, resilience;
  • Open to international travelling, when needed.
