Hoosier Racing Tire is the largest race tire manufacturer in the world. Hoosier has grown to produce over 1000 different types of race tires. The company has its own 300-mph test wheel; a technology center; state-of-the-art, fully integrated production facilities recently adding a high-tech mixing plant, with enough capacity to produce not only for Hoosier Racing Tire, but to have the ability to produce rubber for additional entities as well as a model sales and distribution network. Our Hoosier Tire manufacturing location in Plymouth, IN is seeking a Process Engineering Technician to join our team.

THE POSITION

Assist with leading and steering production employees for the Weekend shift in order to: safeguard and improve the production process and quality.  Details requiring reporting, troubleshooting, machine operation and problem solving.  The selected candidate will be required to operate production equipment when not acting as a Process Engineering technician.  Weekend hours include 12 hours each Saturday and Sunday.  Off-weekend hours consists of two 8 hours shifts Monday through Friday.

The successful candidate will have the following attributes: Quality Mindset, Strong Communication (oral and written) and Problem Solving skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

A) Interface between production and process engineers, especially

  • industrialization of new products, materials, components, processes, machines, and capabilities
  • documenting, supporting & evaluating R&D trials
  • trouble shooting in serial production manufacturing
  • support scrap meetings
  • problem solving techniques

B) Quality improvement, preventative & troubleshooting, especially

  • machine recipes changes
  • specification of work instructions for operators
  • performing operator audits

C) Quality mindset

  • making quality decisions
  • reporting detailed problems
  • recording precise and accurate data

D) Additional everyday functions, especially

  • problem log entries
  • revising procedures
  • placing items on Hold
  • creating and following trial reports
  • developing new employees

Your profile

Minimum Requirements

  • capable of lifting 25-75lbs on occasion
  • Must be able to work 12 a.m. - 12 p.m. Sat/Sun/ and two shifts during the week
  • experience in a tire building plant, minimum 2 years
  • capable of running 3 or more types of production machines on their own (e.g. 1 stage tire building, bead winder, treader)
  • exceptional attendance (4 or fewer attendance points and no pattern of absence write-ups)
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Tools, including: basic data entry in Excel, composing and sending emails (with and without attachments) in Microsoft Outlook, creating PowerPoint presentations from templates.
