Your tasks

We are seeking a highly experienced FA engineer with demonstrated proficiency in analytical thinking and practical skills in performing physical analyses. The role involves identifying root cause defects in electronic and electro-mechanical products and circuits, including the electronic components used. Besides performing analyses, the tasks include collaborating with design engineering, supplier quality management, manufacturing quality engineers, and suppliers to enhance the quality of Continental products. The FA engineer will create detailed analysis reports, provide technical support for findings, and share expertise within the global network of analysis labs.

Your profile

Skill Set:

  • Outstanding problem-solving skills, attention to detail, experience in driving analysis to root cause.
  • Strong written report and presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate highly technical issues/results in simple terms.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in local and international teams and share knowledge.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work under pressure.

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in performing physical analysis of electronic modules, circuits and components.
  • Advanced knowledge of electronics, electronic and electromechanical components, and their materials.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the impact of real-world effects on electronic modules and components (e.g. bias voltage, current flow, humidity, thermal effects, etc.).
  • Skilled in using the following analysis techniques:
    • optical imaging
    • cross-sectioning of components and/or modules
    • 2D/3D X-ray imaging
    • Scanning Acoustic Microscopy (SAM),
    • Field-emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE-SEM)
  • Fluent in written and spoken English (C1)

Education:

  • Master’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent required – or alternately work experience which covers the theoretical background of a master’s degree as required for electronics failure analysis

Additional ways to stand out:

  • Familiar with automotive product electronic design, quality, validation and manufacturing process.
  • Experience in the analysis of thermal incidents.
  • Aware of current industry standards and regulations related to electronic circuits, modules and components.
  • Experience in using functional analysis techniques for electronics such as e.g. curve tracing, probing, HiPot testing of advantage.
