Head of Target Costing and Cost Engineering (m/f/d) - REF61643C

We are looking for you, a Head of Target Costing and Cost Engineering (m/f/diverse), to support our Business Area Automotive at the location Babenhausen.

Your tasks will focus on the following activities:

Leadership

• Leading the global target costing organization (leaders and people)
• Consultant to management and other related functions
• Refine target costing vision and strategy 
• (Further) Embed Target Costing into overall organization and process landscape

Guidance & Governance

• Worldwide implementation of cost engineering methods
• Responsibility for all commercial targets in all customer project quotations
• Building up and training of target costing specialists, team development and continuous adaptation of team tasks to business needs
• Establish standards & processes together with all customer project related functions

Target Costing

• Driving cost reduction measures in all phases of a project 
• Financial evaluation of technical concepts and alternatives
• Costing evaluation, target setting and benchmarking for products, components, processes, manufacturing concepts, tooling in quotation phase
• Guiding worldwide cost review process for selective products in production
• Financial evaluation of standardization concepts
• Cost improvement measures for A-parts and tracking of implementation
• Evaluation and Driving of Make or Buy - operationally and strategically
• Supplier and fair visits to follow technical trends and enhancing target costing knowledge

Support

• Supporting purchasing in supplier negotiations - technically and commercially incl. cost value analysis activities
• Supporting project and sales teams in customer negotiations - technically and commercially (concepts, cost breakdowns, change management) - as counterpart to customer's cost value teams
• Supporting business case evaluations

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in economics or industrial engineering (preferably) with affinity for controlling or comparable education
• Several years relevant work and management experience in Target Costing/Cost Engineering and project controlling of an multinational technology driven company, preferably in Automotive (Cost Analysis Expertise of an OEM)
• Experience in project work and with interfunctional teams
• Knowledge regarding product costing/cost engineering and project controlling, purchasing / product management / business development preferred
• Strong business acumen and thorough understanding of commercial and technical business aspects
• Several completed projects regarding financial process-/tool implementation
• Several years of experience in leading leaders and Experience with international teams and with Management
• Strong technical understanding
• Experience in controlling and financial systems (eg.: SAP (ERP), cost engineering, MS Office applications, accounting, data analytics)
• Fluent German and English language skills in written and spoken 
• Strong intercultural and social competency, experienced to lead international, interdisciplinary and virtual teams
• Management and communication skills
• Analytical setting, strategic thinking, commercial Know-how, ability to solve complex problems
