The focus, as part of the Research and Advanced Engineering (RAE) team, is on applied research in machine learning (ML), aimed at solving problems and tackling real-world challenges, with an emphasis on innovation, based on state-of-the-art technologies and beyond. In this role, you will partner with our business units to develop, scale, maintain, and bring into production artificial intelligence-based solutions that address challenging research and development problems with a high technological readiness.

Do you want to be a Senior Applied Machine Learning Engineer? These should spark your interest:

  • Understand, implement, and analyze state-of-the-art ML algorithms;
  • Modify ML applications according to requirements;
  • Use appropriate datasets and data representation methods;
  • Run ML tests and experiments;
  • Participate in results analysis and model fine-tuning;
  • Train and retrain models when necessary;
  • Extend existing ML libraries and frameworks.

A mentor will support you to stepwise take over responsibility after an initial training phase which will familiarize you with our products, tools, processes, and organization.

Ihr Profil

You would be a perfect match to our team if you have: 

  • MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Informatics, Mathematics, or a similar field;
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience;
  • Solid background and self-driven interest in machine learning, and deep learning, familiarity with recent advances of state-of-the-art;
  • Knowledge in optimizing and fine-tuning deep neural networks;
  • Excellent knowledge of Python;
  • Demonstrated experience in applying Machine Learning methods for real-world value creation;
  • Familiarity with GPU-accelerated libraries (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras 3)
  • Good knowledge of computer science and general software engineering principles;
  • Great understanding of data-driven research and development;
  • Familiarity with modern version control systems (e.g., git);
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and be creative, with a strong sense of independence and teamwork;
  • Excellent command of English, spoken and written;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Good logical thinking / analytical skills;
  • Results-oriented, outstanding analytical, and problem-solving skills. 

Nice to have:

  • Experience working in an agile project setup;
  • Experience writing technical and user documentation, especially with Sphynx;
  • Knowledge of JIRA;
  • Advanced skills in DevOps, Docker.
