Head of ESH ZJG

Ihre Aufgaben

The mission of the position is to plan, coordinate and control all ESH activities in order to meet budget and ESH targets (e.g. optimize fire prevention and environmental protection, maximize employee safety and health as well as plant security). Furthermore, the ESH Manager initiates and implements action plans for continuous improvement of all ESH relevant processes.

  1. General Management and Strategy:▪ align and transform group and BA ESH strategy into action plans and ensure implementation
    ▪ contribute to strategic and operative planning of the plant/operations unit (e.g. with respect to investments, capacity and headcount planning)
    ▪ ensure the achievement of ESH targets according to internal and external customer expectations
    ▪ initiate and implement continuous improvement activities by applying CBS methods and training measures 
    ▪ live and promote the ESH principles and methods (e.g. advise Plant Management on al ESH aspects)
    ▪ initiate and control investments for ESH equipment (e.g. training materials, external trainings, etc.)
    ▪ interface to segment, BU or BA functions in order to gather local ESH requirements and demands and other feedback 
    ▪ participate in and/or steer global or local ESH related and cross-functional projects
    ▪ conduct employee dialogues, personnel development and coaching
    ▪ represent plant at negotiations with responsible authorities concerning ESH issues
  2. Financial Management:▪ prepare, review and manage the budget and forecast of ESH cost centers
    ▪ ensure timely submission of financial data to controlling
    ▪ implement and conduct activities according to the budget established
    ▪ ensure that the financial goals are met
  3. Planning and Implementation:▪ manage fire brigade (where applicable) as well as plan and implement fire prevention measures according to standards 
    ▪ plan and implement occupational safety (e.g. safety briefings, legal obligations, hazardous substances management) according to standards
    ▪ plan and implement plant security (e.g. external security service) and information security according to standards 
    ▪ plan and implement environmental protection (e.g. legal obligations regarding hazardous substances management, waste management, emissions and risk control and management, etc.) according to standards
    ▪ plan and implement medical services (e.g. plant medical officer, workplace ergonomics, industrial hygiene management, etc.) as well as occupational health management according to standards
    ▪ support energy management (e.g. contribute to plant energy reduction roadmap, initiate energy reduction projects, report eKPIs, etc.) according to standards in close alignment with FM function
    ▪ coordinate safety inspection procedures for new plant installations prior to their start-up
    ▪ plan and conduct environmental and safety audits and compliance measures according to standards (i.e. CT management system, SH Corporate)
    ▪ implement external (e.g. ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001) and internal (e.g. ESH management manual, tools, KPIs) ESH standards and legal requirements and provide feedback and input for further development of standards
  4. Legislation and Internal Rules:▪ follow up on legal regulations and evaluate possible impacts on processes and facilities
    ▪ ensure that all legally required permits are applied for in due time and that permit conditions are evaluated and implemented and advise plant management
    ▪ check compliance with legal and internal regulations/standards/processes and implement measures together with local authorities
  5. Crisis and Risk Management:▪ plan and implement emergency and crisis management (e.g. fire, incidents of damage, natural or other exceptional events, etc.) according to standards 
    ▪ conduct risk analyses (i.e. GRC, environmental protection) and prepare concepts and emergency preparedness plans
    ▪ ensure structured root cause analyses of incidents, define and implement sustainable measures
  6. Training and Coaching:▪ ensure the availability of qualified employees for the ESH function in cooperation with plant HR
    ▪ initiate and control the continuous qualification of ESH employees/auditors in cooperation with plant HR
    ▪ execute workshops and coaching of plant employees and management in order to introduce and develop ESH principles and methods throughout the plant’s/ops units processes (e.g. safety first, emergency measures, etc.)
  7. Monitoring and Reporting:▪ operate ESH performance monitoring (e.g. by KPI and target tracking) and identify, prioritize and implement ESH improvements (e.g. for work instructions, etc.)
  8. Standardization:▪ ensure local implementation of central ESH standards
    ▪ provide feedback and input for further development of standards regarding ESH processes (e.g. workshop concepts, methods, tools, etc.) to segment, BU or BA functions

Ihr Profil

  1. University degree, preferably in engineering, natural sciences or related discipline.proof of functional knowledge of occupational safety and environmental protection 
  2. 5 or more years of professional experience in various ESH functions in industrial production processes. cross functional experience e.g. in engineering, quality, purchasing or CBS preferred (familiar with 14001 & 45001 and ESH compliance, FM Global related experience is preferred)
  3. 3 or more years in a leadership position, preferably in operational units with functional and disciplinary responsibility for other individuals
  4. Proficient in English
  5. Communicating with impact and building networks and partnership with stakeholder/customer
  6. Related experience in ESH culture building
